A printable family AI agreement

Use this as a conversation, not a test. Read each line together, change the wording that does not fit your family, then print or write down the version you choose.

Our agreement

We use AI to explore, practice, and make things. A person checks important claims and makes the final decision. We say when AI helped with work we share.

  1. We keep private details, passwords, addresses, and photos of other people out of prompts unless a trusted grown-up has checked what will be shared.
  2. We pause before buying, publishing, sending a message, or following health, safety, money, or legal advice.
  3. If an answer feels confusing, upsetting, unfair, or too certain, we stop and talk to someone we trust.
  4. We can disagree with AI, ask a better question, check another source, or decide not to use it.

Choose your family rules

The best rule is one everyone can remember and actually follow. Add your own boundaries for time, where devices may be used, and what happens if someone makes a mistake.

  1. AI time or place: ______________________________
  2. A trusted grown-up I can ask: ___________________
  3. A project I may share only after approval: ________
  4. A rule we will revisit together: __________________

Try it once

Ask AI one harmless question. Check one claim outside the chat. Then decide whether these rules helped or need a change. Put a date on the agreement and revisit it as children grow.

Try it together

Print this page or copy the four family rules onto paper. Have everyone mark the rule they most want to remember.
