How to build a simple game with AI

Start with one player action and one goal. The first version only has to be playable. The interesting part is seeing whether the game does what the child intended.

Say the smallest game idea

Try: “A monkey collects five bananas and avoids one puddle.” Ask the child what should happen when the player touches a banana, touches the puddle, and reaches five. Write those rules before asking AI to build.

Build and play once

Let AI help make a first version. Then play it with the child. Do not judge from a screenshot alone: tap the controls, collect an item, lose a turn, and reach the goal. Ask what happened compared with the written rules.

  1. Pick one rule to test.
  2. Predict the visible result.
  3. Play and compare what actually happened.

Change one thing

If something feels wrong, name the specific miss: “The banana count stayed at zero,” or “The jump button is too small to tap.” Ask AI to change that one thing, then test it again. Keep the version that works better. A grown-up reviews any sharing or publishing step.

Try it together

Draw the game screen on paper first. Mark the player, goal, and one obstacle. Use that drawing as the child’s brief for the first build.
